Recently, the City of Tangent experienced an unexpected tree limb fall from one of the White Oak trees outside Tangent City Hall. Thankfully, the fall occurred around 3 A.M., and nobody was on the Bass Estate grounds. The tree was removed and inspected by our arborist. Despite being pruned and cared for biannually, the oak tree suffered from some failing health and "sudden limb drop" or "summer limb drop."
Some species will lose large limbs on hot, windless summer days in hot/dry conditions. A lot is still not understood about what causes this to happen, and oak trees are susceptible. However, links are provided by the State of Oregon Department of Forestry for oak tree care.
